Thursday's an Alioth day

In the latest issue of Famitsu, details have emerged on the upcoming sequel to the 2009 tactical role-playing game, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 is currently under development for the DS by Atlus and once again features a 7-day attack on Earth by an outside force; if the threat isn't neutralised within a week, the game is over. As translated by AndriaSang, the mysterious invasion is headed by a group called the Septentrion, who make their initial attack on Japan one Sunday. From that point on, they attack once more everyday and it's up to the game's protagonists to stop them by the time the attacks reach the seventh day.

13 characters have signed a pact with the devil, effectively making them devil summoners. The main protagonist is a third-year high school student from the city. Returning home from a mock exam, he accidentally gets involved with the devil summoners group and when he awakes, he finds himself as one of the members. Io is one of his classmates at school, and as well as being blessed with brains and beauty, she is an honors student and adored by many. Daichi is also from the same school and is the main protagonist's childhood friend. Although he has a habit of taking harsh situations lightly, he's also a deep thinker.

Mixing strategy and battle command elements, players can obtain new demons via the demon auctions. As reported by Sokuho, the new "Enishi System" depicts the friendship level between you and your fellow summoners. As that increases, your allies will unlock new skills and other abilities. From what has been translated, it seems that a different Septentrion creature will attack on each of the seven days. Famitsu has unveiled the Thursday attacker as Alioth.

Devil Survivor 2 is currently 95% complete and should launch in Japan this summer. For more screenshots and artwork, please visit Famitsu.com.
