For a number of days now there has been a rumour about a game called Star Fox Grand Prix, which was apparently going to be revealed at some point during the latest Nintendo Direct. In the end, no such announcement was made.
The announcement we did receive, though, was the reveal new Star Fox missions would be added to Ubisoft's Starlink: Battle for Atlas this April in the Spring update. This digital update will include the ability to play as Peppy, Falco and Slippy in a series of challenging missions against Star Wolf's lieutenants, Andrew, Pigma, and Leon. This update will also include faction missions and starship races, which are kind of similar to a Grand Prix mode, we guess.
Will you be checking out this update for Starlink: Battle for Atlas? Have you even played the game yet? Tell us below.

Is the ship racing the star fox GP thing we’ve all been expecting?? Surely they can’t have that mode and another star fox racing game coming.
Also is this extra content free? Great if it is.
Another unopened game.. extra missions for free or wishful thinking 🤣
I really enjoyed this even if it was a tad to easy. I’ll definitely check out the new stuff
Didn't mention it being free but it sure came across as though it was going to be. I've barely started this game.
No story missions?. SL is $24 now, well worth it at that price.
Starlink is a solid game, and I'm starving for more Starfox. So I'll take what I can get. Not sure how I feel about the racing mode, but at worst, I just ignore it. So I'm not too bothered.
Don't own the game, and can't say I care to.
Perhaps this was what people saw and mistook it for a Star Fox Racing game.
Either way, this is great! Starlink is a very underrated game. This just makes it even better.
We knew a second wave of ships and pilots was coming, but I never expected more Star Fox, a racing mode, and some kind of faction mode to come with it! This update is looking a lot bigger than I expected!
This looks cool to me. Folks you got your cool Star Fox fix this gen!
I reckon if the Grand Prix game does exist, they're holding back until after this is out the door so as to not rob Ubisoft of their Starfox spotlight, i could well see it still being released this year, just towards the end of it.
I'm looking forward to this anyhow
I like how this is pretty much just becoming another Star Fox game!
This game was surprisingly light on content, so any additional stuff to play is welcome.
Well, I guess this is our Star Fox game; content built on an existing game. Nintendo doesn't seem to think there's enough enthusiasm for a standalone Star Fox title. It's disappointing to see such a beloved franchise reduced to an afterthought.
@Ralizah I mean, that's how I played it - no premiums, Fox only, Final Destination.
Thoroughly underrated game especially for the price you can get it at now.
Looking forward to new starfox goodness
Sounds like quite a bit being added. I can’t quite believe it will be free.
The game itself is very good and available very cheap for anyone sitting on the fence.
I was always really suspicious of the rumored Grand Prix game. When I saw the ‘F Zero-like’ ships of Starlink I started to wonder if the rumor got started by someone confusing this for what it looked like, an F Zero / Starfox crossover. Add to that the fact that there are some lore and aesthetic overlaps between those IPs and it was just too easy to get wrong. I’m a little disappointed but glad that at least there is still a Retro project we haven’t heard about... hopefully. DK3 makes sense since that series sells well.
Really enjoyed Star Link and delighted it's getting an update. Would love to see how the different versions have sold and plans going forward.
Excellent. I just finished the main campaign so extra content is appreciated
Omg please allow different controls too!!!! This is great news regardless but I’m reaaaallyyy hoping we can now boost and maneuver around properly.
The term "update" rather than "DLC" seems to imply that it's free, but that would surprise me coming from Ubisoft. I guess we'll see. I haven't played a ton of Starlink yet, but from what I have, it does seem to be a bit of an underrated gem. The new content will be welcome for whenever I get around to it.
@Multi The extra missions will definitely be free. The only stuff you have to pay for so far is whatever's sold physically.
More content coming is alluring. Anyone know if the (physical) starter pack at $29.99 is worth buying?
@Mars
If you want the Arwing, then definitely. Otherwise you get more bang for your buck with the digital. (I went physical)
I really thought this would lead to an Star Fox new game announcement.
Really liked what I played of starlink. Will corcle back to it later.
Cools DLC here I come but now I have way to many backlogs to clear up as well.
I was playing it for quite a bit and I decided to take a break to get one of the pilot packs but then Smash Bros. came and I have yet to go back.
Pleasing to see. Especially the full team of Star Fox characters. Although, the only reason I'd play as Slippy is for a kamikaze attack.
Play as Falco, Peppy, or Slippy. When will Krystal get her chance to shine, though? She hasn't been in a Star Fox or Star Fox-related game since 2006.
And her only appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series were as trophies, stickers, or smash taunts for Fox, Falco, or Wolf.
SSBU made her an Assist Trophy, yes, but other than that, Nintendo has done pretty much nothing with her. It's up to us fans of Krystal to keep her memory alive.
I think I paid $34 after Christmas...
But my Son played the crap out it and enjoy the game.
Free update sounds good, we already bought a bunch of extra weapons.
He played the entire game as Star Fox & was using using tricked out Arwing.
@Rohanrocks88 I see nothing wrong with being optimistic about the franchise, but Nintendo poured a good deal of money into marketing Star Fox Zero. You can only do so much for a bad game, though. The advertising campaign significantly outshone the game itself. Zero, as far as I can tell, still stands as the worst entry in the series in terms of sales.
Maybe it's reasonable to suggest Nintendo's gauging Star Fox's appeal with Starlink, but I worry Star Fox will go the way of some of Nintendo's other beloved legacy franchises.
But . . . my concerns are that of an older Nintendo fan approaching his 30s. Nintendo's likely more concerned with trying to appeal to newer audiences with new and engaging IPs than my demographic by reinvigorating old franchises.
It’s a great game. I think it would’ve sold much better if they hadn’t tried to tack on the toy gimmick because the gameplay itself is quite fun.
@Rohanrocks88 My first console was the SNES, too. Man, I loved that thing. I kept and played it until it finally died on me. It's still the longest console I ever held onto. It was also the first console I started importing games for. Good times.
I dropped off the Nintendo wagon not much longer after you. I didn't like the direction they took with the Wii, so I kept to PC gaming. I jumped back in for Smash and a few others on the Wii U, but I don't need to go over the Wii U's problems.
I completely agree, though. The Switch era is the first time in a while where it feels good to be a Nintendo fan. Nintendo's killing it, and the gimmicks are (for the most part) kept to a minimum. Their recent focus on the core gamer market is certainly worth acknowledging.
I'm cautiously optimistic . . . with an emphasis on the optimistic part. I have high hopes for the Switch era. Maybe it's not too wild of a suggestion to think we might see the likes of Star Fox, F-Zero, a traditional Paper Mario or maybe even Earthbound!
Anyway, only time will tell in the end. Thanks for the chat. Peace be with you, brother.
Cool, gives me even more to play whenever I pick it back up again.
Have this but haven't played it yet. Need to try it out so I can decide whether or not to download the extra content when it's available.
Free update? I went with Deluxe but kinda regretted it since all the ships and pilots are essentially the same. The game is pretty solid overall, but Star Fox content is the main reason I gave it a chance.
@SinnohGeek Are new figures coming out for the rest of the Star Fox crew?
@humbucker The toys are awsome though; very pretty ship designs
@HalBailman You mean Slippy, right? The littlest turd of an annoying ass frog whom ever graced the medium?
So the Star Fox Racing rumors are true., like most Nintendo fans I got a copy of this game for the Star Fox content alone and can say I was surprised at how fun this game is and the new stuff looks to only make it better . I hope they make and sell stand alone ship packs for Peppy, Slippy and Falco that would be great.
@Antraxx777 Yes, Slippy, not Peppy. I updated my post.
Star fox GP sure looks different.
I had to smile when I saw that news since I got my copy of the starter pack last week at best buy when it was on sale for $19.99 (arrived yesterday) and this happens. Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to play,
Good underrated game, but can't believe they still support it with the initial sales it had Not sure if I should be impressed or just confused. I kinda wish they would focus their efforts on a new improved game rather than prolong something that I'm done with. But of course that requires very different levels of effort/time/resources.
@Rohanrocks88 I guess with the announcement of the Zelda Remake Nintendo shows that they don't forget about the old generation. Personally, I would have preferred A Link To The Past over Links Awakening, but I played the crap out of both games
I finished the main campaign and the starfox side missions last year.. and as much as I enjoyed the game lately I've had a "one and done" mentality to help get through my backlog so I can't see myself going back for additional content
Good thing I got the game at Best Buy for $9.99. (GCU+$5 Reward)
@Rohanrocks88 I hope so, too! I missed these ones....
New missions added...to one of the biggest flops of the century?
