If compilations of classic games are your thing, then you'll be glad to know that Intellivision Lives! for the DS will be getting its retail release this September, and what a wait it's been! Since its announcement back at E3 2005, all the potential publishers have taken a look at the title and turned it down due to estimations on the projected returns not being enough to justify the costs.
Now fans of retro and classic family fun can thank Virtual Play Games for stepping up and taking publishing duties to bring handheld gamers a collection of over 60 games; which include Astrosmash, B-17 Bomber, Shark! Shark!, Motocross, Space Cadet, and Thin Ice. Keith Robinson, Owner of Intellivision Productions, explains why a 2010 release, although obviously longer than expected, holds extra significance:
2010 being the 30th anniversary of the Intellivision console, I'm looking forward to seeing how many new fans will discover Intellivision thanks to this DS version. The Nintendo DS is the perfect platform for the classic Intellivision games.
Those of you familiar with the console will recognise the 12-button keypad display on the screen, and to pack an extra punch, the collection will include games that were not released at the time of the original launch. Gamers can also play head-to-head via the local wireless connection.
If you haven't read our review of the Gamecube version, be sure to check it out to see if you'll be spending your cash on the upcoming DS instalment.

Interesting... not sure I'll get it though.
Not planning on getting this. In the words of someone familiar whose name I cannot identify:
It could be decent, not half bad, mediocre, a pain in the butt, legendary, horrible, great or fantastic.
The Intellivision was my first system ever and it introduced me to video games. Definately excited but I think I'll wait for reviews to see if its good. Some retro compilations on the DS are pretty bad from what I've read.
Ohh this should be cool have in my library!
Amazing how a game confirmed in 2005 wasn't canceled after a five-year wait.
I'm probably going to pass with this one. The idea is nice, but I have other plans for my DS over the holidays.
This is going to be awesome. I'd love to have Activision Anthology on the DS, but I think using the touchscreen for the keypad will fix all the issues I had playing the Gamecube version. Best of all, DS carts are import-friendly so I won't have to buy another DS!
If my favorite Intellivision game is on the cart - AD&D: Cloudy Mountain - it's mine!

@StrikerJ: Sounds like there's a good chance since they're including some unreleased games and I should hope these could be included if they left out the Dungeons & Dragons name. I'd also like to see the Activision and Imagic titles, but there's no indication these were licensed as they were for the Intellivision Rocks! collection on PC/Mac.
Still, if it has all the games I liked best from the Gamecube release with a better control interface, I won't complain!
